About Gliding
The British Gliding Association (BGA) is the UK national body that regulates gliding in the UK, and supports gliding clubs around the country. They have produced some short videos showing people trying gliding for the first time, how gliding clubs operate in the UK, and explaining a bit about how gliders manage to fly for hundreds of km, staying in the air for many hours, if the conditions are right and the pilot is experienced.
This short British Gliding Association (BGA) video show people having their first experiences of gliding at various clubs across the UK.
This video explains a bit about how gliders fly, what keeps them airborne (not necessarily what you think!)
Gliding is probably the cheapest way to learn to fly with membership open to both experienced pilots and the absolute beginner. The Vale of White Horse Gliding Centre is a voluntary organisation, run by its members, for its members. If you join the club, you will be expected to get involved and assist with the operation of the airfield.
If you’d like to try gliding, consider buying an Introductory Flight.
Or if you’re ready to join the Vale of White Horse Gliding Centre to learn to fly, fill in our Membership Application Form.
We look forward to welcoming you to the club!
